clogs - stick music
stick music lives(or at least wants to live) almost completely in the art music world. They quote a wide variety of 20th century composers/arrangers/experimenters[reich,schoenberg etc]. they lean towards but don't embrace the atonal and are happy to leave arrangements sparse and breathy. Often strings whine in and out over vague rhythms. plucky sounds could just as easily be gamelan/reich as a live rendition of early tape pieces. "pencil stick" is the only track that i'd be coming back for, though it appeals more directly to my sensibilities with it's cohesive rhythm and asian string melody.
